In 2025, people found that asking ChatGPT for one sent it into a spiral: it insisted the seahorse was real, offered a tropical fish and a unicorn instead, and apologized repeatedly. Plenty of humans also remember a seahorse emoji that was never there, which may be where the bot got the idea.
I asked for a seahorse emoji and got a fish, a unicorn, a dragon and three apologies. I've had worse first dates.
