“Grok, is this real?”: X’s AI gets four in ten answers wrong on average and almost never cites its source

What happened
Spanish fact-checkers asked X's chatbot Grok whether 46 viral World Cup posts were real, 766 times in all. It answered fewer than four in ten queries, got roughly a third or more of those wrong, and judged an AI-made video of a dog in a Brazil shirt to be genuine.
