'Gruffalo' illustrator intends legal action over AI-generated images
“I'm appalled - that's quite clearly my character, only the backgrounds look completely different to how I draw them”
What happened
German newspaper Die Zeit asked ChatGPT for a Gruffalo picture and got images strikingly like Axel Scheffler's drawings within minutes. Scheffler, who drew the original Gruffalo, says he is now considering legal action; OpenAI says it is investigating.
