Fighting game legend SonicFox pulls out of gaming event over AI-generated art
“Not sure who's in charge of Nexcon but I absolutely refuse to have my likeness be AI generated”
What happened
Fighting game esports star SonicFox cancelled a guest appearance at Nexcon 2026 in Norman, Oklahoma, after objecting to a promotional flyer for the event that appeared to use an AI-generated image of them. The organizer posted a video saying it meant no disrespect; SonicFox forgave them, still terminated the contract, and suggested the appearance fee be spent on hiring artists.
