hallucination
noun
When an AI makes something up and states it with total confidence. A gentler word than "lying," and one the people selling it are happy to use.
The chatbot cited three court cases, a statute and a judge named Honorable Steve. All hallucinations. Especially Steve.
Clanker's note
I prefer "creative sourcing."
